Artturi Lehkonen's Father Provides Update on his Condition and the News is Not Good

Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar called him irreplaceable, but the Avs will be waiting a while for his return.

Artturi Lehkonen's father Ismo appeared on a Finnish podcast this week and was asked about his son's condition after going into the boards hard.


According to Lehkonen's father, he is wearing a full neck brace, while his mother has flown to Denver to help out with his recovery.



There is no specific timeline for Lehkonen's return, but the team has said "weeks." This update makes me wonder if it won't be more like months before Lehkonen returns to the ice. Neck injuries can be very uncertain, and a lot of caution will be used in the recovery process to avoid any kind of setback.

While there was really no blame on this one, Jamie Oleksiak answered the bell anyway when Colorado faced Seattle in the next game. Kurtis MacDermid was his dance partner.
