Brad Treliving breaks his silence on Matt Murray provides details on his injury

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced in July that Matt Murray was expected to miss the entire season. Murray was as reportedly struggling with a serious injury that would require some form of treatment. Neither Murry or the Maple Leafs would release any information about his injury.

Today General Manager Brad Treliving finally opened up about Murray and during season opening media availability Treliving provided the following update:

Matt Murray requires a significant surgery, per #leafs GM Brad Treliving, and it will happen within the next week.

Details will be disclosed at a further date due to Murray's privacy.

This messaging should go a long way to shutting down some of the criticisms that the Leafs have received. Over the last 3 seasons Murray has been on injures reserve almost 10 times so it's not difficult to understand that veteran is battling some form of debilitating injury.
