Colorado Avalanche lose forward to season ending injury

BY MATT
The defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche has been having a real tough time this season with man games lost. It appears as though another player will face sometime on the sidelines. Colorado winger Artturi Lehkonen will undergo surgery to address a broken finger he sustained in Monday's game against the Montreal Canadiens, head coach Jared Bednar told reporters.

Bednar wasn't exactly sure when the injury was sustained, but was certain it happened on a shot at some point.

"It'll be 4-6 weeks. Maybe more. It's a huge loss."

"Good thing is it's his finger. It's his top hand and he can continue to train".

The 27 year old scored twice in the Avalanche's four-goal first period, helping to lead the way to a commanding 8-4 victory.

Lehkonen has scored 20 goals and 49 points in 62 games this season.
