Former NHLER and Stanley Cup Champion proved why hockey players can do it all

Former NHLer Max Talbot will forever live in Penguins' history, he scored two goals in Game 7 of the 2008-09 Stanley Cup Finals. This gave the Penguins their first Stanley Cup since 1992.

The 38 year old, last played professional hockey in 2018-2019 for Omsk Avangard in the KHL.

Talbot has traded his skates in for a gi. He won a bronze medal at a Jiu-jitsu tournament bringing together fighters from Ontario and Quebec that was held in Ottawa this past weekend.




What is most impressive is that Max Talbot started training in this combat sport only two months ago.


"I had a feeling I hadn't felt since I hung up my skates. Let me tell you, that's called stepping out of your comfort zone!" Talbot wrote on his Instagram.

Thanks to the advice received from the coaches of Académie Connexion , a Jiu-jitsu center located in Saint-Amable, Max Talbot was able to defeat Gabriel Perras in the round of 16.

Talbot then defeated Anthony Kauki before losing to Karrel Graik, who defeated him via submission in the semi-finals.

Congrats to Talbot for getting out of his comfort zone and finding out he's pretty good at something new.
