Hockey Canada loses another major sponsor
BY LIAM JULY 17, 2023 (11:31)
According to a new report from Susan Krashinsky-Robertson of the Globe and Mail, Nike has permanently pulled their sponsorship of Hockey Canada as of today, ending a previous ‘pause' period on their financial commitments.
Other major sponsors, including Esso, Telus, and Tim Hortons, who have also paused their sponsorships of Hockey Canada, could follow suit with Nike in pulling their support, considering the results of the upcoming investigation are expected be horrific.
Although a complete executive overhaul has taken place since the first allegations against the organization, it seems Hockey Canada will be dealing with a public image crisis for the foreseeable future, as they should. For an organization with a mandate of growing the game and making it more accessible to children in Canada, their legacy will be one of scandals, misogyny, coverups, and protecting the legacy old boy's club.
