Jaromir Jagr makes an announcement about his hockey future
Jaromir Jagr is 51 and according to his Instagram, looks to be coming back for another year of professional hockey. Jagr is expected to return to play with the team he owns (Kladno HC).
Jagr is notable for the first two seasons of his NHL career, he raised a Stanley Cup after defeating the Minnesota North Stars in 1991 and Chicago Blackhawks in 1992. In three of the five seasons when Jagr led the NHL in scoring, he was also No. 1 in assists. He had 67 in 1997-98, 83 the following season, and 69 in 2000-01. The most assists he had in a season was 87 in 1995-96 when he was third behind Penguins teammates Mario Lemieux and Ron Francis (each had 92).
Jagr is still a draw in the latter part of his hockey career and has put up 12 points in 2020-2021 in 12 games played, and 18 points in 43 games played in 2021-2022, in the Czech Extraliga.
The vet while aged 44, with the Florida Panthers, managed to put up a respectable 23 goals and 54 points, and aimed to retire at 60 in a statement, 7 years ago.
Apparently, he may have found the motivation or Ovechkin sent him the right message after passing him in the record books.
