With the news that Fanatics will take over the National Hockey League's jersey rights beginning in the 2024-25 NHL season, most of the fans around the league have been up in arms about it and rightfully so. There's one key name in the jersey game that didn't even submit a bid, proving that the NHL keeps going downhill.

According to Ali Murji, one of the biggest names in sports jerseys and apparel, Nike, didn't even submit a bid.

In recent years, the NHL product on and off the ice has gone down hill. Adidas, the current jersey manufacturer will not continue after next season.

It's pretty telling that the NHL cannot get a major jersey manufacturer to hop on board as Nike, who has previously worked with the NHL, now wants to distance themselves from the hockey brand.

Under Gary Bettman's leadership, the NHL has made a lot of money, but on and off the ice, the product has gotten worse. As a fan, I want Fanatics to do well, as a person that has made the mistake of buying their product before, the future of NHL jersey's will see a massive downgrade.
