Metropolitan Division team enters the Elias Lindholm sweepstakes

Late last week, it was revealed that the Boston Bruins may pursue Calgary Flames centerman Elias Lindholm to address their lack of depth down the middle with the retirement of Patrice Bergeron and the uncertainty surrounding David Krejci, who became a free agent on Canada Day.

But the Boston Bruins aren't the only team that are interested in trading for the 28-year-old as the Washington Capitals have now been linked to Lindholm.

The Bruins, however, might not be the only club to consider pursuing Lindholm. THN Washington's Sammi Silber last week suggested his two-way play and leadership would make him a good addition to a club like the Washington Capitals that needs a reliable top-six center." The Hockey News reported.

Earlier this summer, it was revealed that Elias Lindholm, who's set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2024, was leaning not to re-sign with the Calgary Flames and may test the open market next July.

Lindholm's health has been key for the Calgary Flames as he's only missed two games over the last three seasons. In 80 games this past season, the Boden, Sweden native had 64 points (22 goals, 42 assists), 14 penalty minutes and was a plus-six.
