NHL veteran wants to continue career, but the phone isn't ringing.

Playing in the National Hockey League is a privilege, to have a long career in the NHL is a gift. As players enter the twilight of their career, even if they want to keep playing and they feel they still have more left in the tank, there comes a time when teams make the decision of retirement for a player.

This seems to be the case for long-time NHL veteran Alex Edler. According to Jeff Paterson of The Hockey News, Edler wants to continue playing but he hasn't received any interest from teams around the league. It seems he can't even get a professional tryout agreement.

Edler, 37, has played in the NHL for a total of 17 seasons, 15 of those were with the Vancouver Canucks. Last season with the Los Angeles Kings, he played in 64 games scoring just 2 goals and adding 9 assists for a total of 11 points.

Edler has never been known for his offensive game, usually being used in a shutdown role, it's hard to believe no team will take a flyer on the Swedish national, even at 37, he's shown he can play a fair amount of games in a season.

It's clear Edler still has the passion and drive to continue his career, but with NHL camps right around the corner, maybe his time in the league has come to an end.
DO YOU THINK ALEX EDLER CAN STILL PLAY AT THE NHL LEVEL?
