Sean Avery claims Ryan Reaves will be a disaster for Leafs

On today's edition of the Leafs Morning Take podcast, Sean Avery joined the show to give his usually outlandish thoughts on the team - this time focused on the Leafs new enforcer Ryan Reaves.

Surprisingly, considering the role and impact Sean Avery had in hockey, he claimed that he believes Ryan Reaves will end up as a ‘sideshow' with Toronto. Specifically, Avery brings up Reaves' ego, thinking that Reaves will direct more attention to himself than necessary, and forgetting what he is here for - to hit and fight.


It's rich coming from Avery, who was undoubtedly a sideshow himself, with all his antics including waiving his stick at goalies as a screen. Host Jay Rosehill defends Reaves with the solid point that Reaves must understand his role and his ways to help teams after carving himself out a longer career.


Avery also makes the ridiculous claim that he could make the Leafs team with an eight week training camp, now at 43 years old but claiming to be in the best shape of his life. It's unclear where Avery has based his dislike of Reaves, but perhaps it's because Reaves was able to have a much more successful career.
