Stanley Cup champion, Jack Adams winner passes away at 76

BY COOPER GODIN    AUGUST 4, 2023  (2:19 PM)
Some sad news to report on in the hockey world on Friday as the NHL Alumni Association announced the passing of former Stanley Cup champion and Jack Adams winner Bob Murdoch at the age of 76.

Murdoch spent parts of 12 seasons in the National Hockey League with the Montreal Canadiens, Los Angeles Kings and Atlanta/Calgary Flames, recording 278 points (60 goals, 218 assists) in 757 games.

After retiring in 1982, he remained with the Flames organization as an assistant coach before moving on to become a Head Coach in Chicago and then Winnipeg where he won the Jack Adams Award in the 1989-90 season.

In 2019, Murdoch was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, according to the NHL Alumni Association.

Our thoughts are with Murdoch's family and friends at this extremely difficult time.
