Stuart Skinner leaving the Edmonton Oilers for personal reasons, leaving Jack Campbell as the team's starter

The Edmonton Oilers will have some lineup changes before their next game against the Anaheim Ducks. Edmonton lost to the Los Angeles Kings 6-3 in a game they needed to win to hold onto the last wild card spot. Goalie Stuart Skinner is headed back to Edmonton for the birth of his first child so he will not be available. Sorry Oiler fans, it looks like Jack Campbell will get the next two starts at least. Veteran Calvin Pickard has been recalled and will assume backup goalie.

In an attempt to solidify their defense, the Oilers want to see what they have in defender Vincent Desharnais. He too was recalled from Bakersfield in the American Hockey League. Desharnais was only a seventh-round pick for the Oilers back in 2016. However, he's six foot six and weighs two hundred-fifteen pounds. Last season in Bakersfield he finished the year plus thirty-six.

That is the type of consistent defending Edmonton desperately needs. Edmonton is hoping he can bring some stability and physicality to the lineup. The Oilers continue to struggle keeping the puck out of their own net this season and it could cost them a playoff spot if they can't address the issue soon.
