While USPORTS hockey is the NCAA's little brother, situations such as what was seen this week make you realize that you just can't compare the two.

During the U SPORTS Men's hockey semi-final, all hell broke loose when University of Prince Edward Island forward Zac Beauregard crashed into University of Alberta's goaltender Ethan Kruger.

Kruger was injured on the play and had to be replaced by Jake Bennett less than sixteen minutes into the third period but what transpired after the final buzzer has people talking.

Alberta's decision to come off the ice immediately after the horn before shaking hands and the players of the game were awarded was discussed by reporters and Head Coach Ian Herbers justified why he felt it was necessary to get his players off the ice.

When referring to the game, Herbert's had this to say about his decision:

That game happened in the 80's, that shouldn't be happening in today's game

You can say what you want about the coach's decision not to allow his players to shake hands with UPEI, but in my opinion, he made the right call so his players didn't get hurt, especially as they get ready to play for the championship Sunday versus the University of New Brunswick Reds Sunday evening.
