Anaheim Ducks Part Ways with Trevor Zegras in Stunning Trade

Ever since last Summer, there have been rumors that the Anaheim Ducks would trade away forward Trevor Zegras. He never looked happy there, and this season, things only got worse.

With 32 points in 57 games, the former ninth-overall pick was not living up to the hype, and his unhappiness was probably a huge contributor to that fact.

Well, on Monday, it was reported by Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet that the Ducks officially opted to trade Zegras to the Philadelphia Flyers in a stunning move.

The trade seems to be a decent one for both sides, all things considered. According to Friedman, the Flyers have sent the Ducks Ryan Poehling, the 45th overall pick in this year's draft, and a fourth-rounder next season.

It is a modest deal that sees the Flyers only get Zegras in return. Although the kid is more than skilled and could be a great fit for the franchise.

Both the Ducks and the Flyers are teams that have struggled to make the playoffs as of late, and are desperately trying to break out of that reality.

This deal gets both of those teams closer. Perhaps clearing out Zegras is a preparatory move to bring in Mitch Marner this offseason.

Either way, this is huge news to start off the day in the National Hockey League. You have to love an early morning trade to get you all excited about the day to come.

It will be interesting to see if we get any other trades happening in the coming days and weeks. Perhaps the Toronto Maple Leafs will need to do something here to keep up.
