Cutter Gauthier recently made his return to Philadelphia after a shock trade request last year, and now he's addressed the hate he received from the Philly crowd in one of the most hostile environments we've seen in the NHL in quite some time.
The Anaheim Ducks acquired Cutter Gauthier from the Philadelphia Flyers last season in a trade, but it wasn't under the prettiest circumstances, as many believed the young forward didn't behave right as he essentially forced his way out of Philadelphia.
That included chants that were laced with profanity, and it ultimately ended with the Flyers coming away winners 6-0, with the 20-year old rookie not managing to get on the scoresheet in arguably the biggest NHL game of his career thus far.
Now, days later, the rookie forward has officially responded to what must have been a very overwhelming night, but it sounds like he wasn't too bothered with the entire ordeal.
"I mean it is what it is." Gauthier said to reporters after the game. "Media likes to say some things and rehash some old things, but I can't control anything any other people say. I'm not here to please everyone, I'm here to do what's best for me."
Ultimately, the Flyers fans are going to hate Gauthier for a long time to come, but surrounded by a young, exciting core in Anaheim, the future is very bright for the 20-year old who is off to a solid start this year (7g, 20p, 43gp), and it appears he remains very confident despite the hatred he received.
