400-game veteran signs PTO with worst team in league to continue NHL career
After spending the entire 2022-23 season in the American Hockey League with the Chicago Wolves, 400-game veteran Ryan Dzingel is looking to make a return to the NHL.
According to CapFriendly, the Arizona Coyotes have signed Ryan Dzingel to a professional tryout contract (PTO) and will join them for training camp and preseason games in the coming weeks.
"Arizona #Yotes have signed two players to professional try outs.
F - Ryan Dzingel
D - Peter Diliberatore"
Dzingel, 31, has appeared in 404 games in the NHL across parts of seven seasons with the Ottawa Senators, Columbus Blue Jackets, Carolina Hurricanes, Arizona Coyotes and San Jose Sharks, putting up 188 points (87 goals, 101 assists) and 191 penalty minutes.
The Wheaton, Illinois native, as mentioned, spent the 2022-23 season in the AHL, lacing them up for 22 games with Chicago where he managed to record 11 points (two goals, nine assists).
Depending on how Dzingel performs in training camp and preseason games, he should have no issues earning a contract with the Coyotes later this month and could help the organization address their need for depth up front.
