It was a big night at Madison Square Garden as the New York Rangers hosted the Arizona Coyotes for their first home game of the 2023-24 season.

Throughout the night, it was feisty affair, but things got heated after the final buzzer went, with a huge scrum involving almost every player on the ice at the time, including New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin.
The video at the beginning doesn't show how the scuffle began, but as Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin skates in and grabs Matt Dumba in the corner of New York's zone, all hell breaks loose.
While Mika Zibanejad is tangled up with a Coyotes defenceman Sean Durzi, a massive pileup of players is happening in the corner, with Nick Schmaltz puttuing Rangers forward Barclay Goodrow in a headlock.
According to the NHL's box score, a total of 66 penalty minutes was handed out by the officials at the end of the game.
Arizona: Barrett Hayton (two minutes for cross-checking + ten minute misconduct), Nick Bjugstad (two minutes for roughing + ten minute misconduct), Matt Dumba (two minutes for roughing + ten minute misconduct), Sean Durzi (two minutes for roughing).
New York: Mika Zibanejad (two minutes for roughing), Jacob Trouba (two minutes for roughing + ten minute misconduct), Barclay Goodrow (two minutes for roughing + ten minute misconduct), Igor Shesterkin (two minutes for leaving the crease).
Eventually cooler heads would prevail and the Rangers would salute their fans after winning the game over Arizona by a score of 2 to 1.
