New information about possible location of new Coyotes' arena is hilariously bad

The Arizona Coyotes still find themselves without a concrete arena deal. The team is running out of time to secure a new deal before the NHL is forced to relocate the team. The franchise has already missed the previously set deadline and is now operating on borrowed time.

Rumors continue swirl that the Coyotes ownership group has the inside track to purchase a 95 acre plot of land. This location would allow the Coyotes to finally secure their long-term future in the desert. But like everything else this franchise does, there are some very embarrassing catches.

So what's the problem?

Well, the location that the Coyotes have selected doesn't currently have any utilities run to the location. That means, no sewage or water is currently run to this location, providing unique challenges in gaining zoning approval.

If that's not enough, the location that the Coyotes have selected is prone to significant flooding. While rain is rare in Arizona, knowingly purchasing a location that floods, is truly on brand for the franchise.

And to go one step further, it would take a MINIMUM of 5 years for this location to be prepared to host an NHL game. That means 5 more seasons at a College arena, which causes the team to hemorrhage money year over year.

This news should all but ensure the Coyotes all but done in the desert.
