For the second straight day, there was action on the waiver wire as the Boston Bruins are attempting to send a defenceman to the minors.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Bruins have placed 24-year-old defenceman Ian Mitchell on waivers for the purpose of sending him to AHL Providence.
"Mitchell (BOS) on waivers. Both from yesterday cleared" Friedman said.
Mitchell, a native of St. Albert, Alberta has appeared in 13 games for the Boston Bruins this season where he's recorded two assists, ten penalty minutes and is a plus-six. He's also skated in four AHL games with Providence, putting up one assist.
In other related news, Buffalo Sabres forward Tyson Jost and Detroit Red Wings goaltender Michael Hutchinson have both cleared waivers and will be assigned to their team's respective American Hockey League affiliate.
