Bruins place former first-round pick on waivers
One day after a former first-round pick was placed on waivers, another former 13th overall pick has landed on the wire.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Boston Bruins have placed defenceman Jakub Zboril on waivers.
"Vrana clears, Zboril (BOS) on waivers"
Zboril, 26, has not panned out as the Boston Bruins had hoped when they selected him in the first round in 2015. Since being drafted eight years ago, Zboril has only appeared in 76 games at the NHL level.
In 19 games for the AHL's Providence Bruins this season, the Brno, Czechia native has seven assists, 17 penalty minutes and is a minus-five.
For Zboril's sake, it might be for the best if a team claims him off waivers on Thursday, giving him a fresh start with a new organization.
In other related news,
Jakub Vrana has cleared waivers and will be assigned to the AHL's Springfield Thunderbirds.
