The Vancouver Canucks' season is officially over after they fell to the Edmonton Oilers in Game 7 of the second round. It was a great season for the Canucks, who surpassed everyone's expectations since the beginning of the year.
Now that the Canucks' season is over, Patrik Allvin and his management group will need to sit down and make a blueprint for the summer and how they'll approach the draft and free agency. The Canucks have a number of players on their roster that are set to become either restricted or unrestricted free agents.
One of those unrestricted free agents, Elias Lindholm, could be a hot commodity on the open market starting on July 1st. His time in Vancouver wasn't as great as many hoped, especially considering the package the Canucks paid to get him from the Calgary Flames. With other names like Nikita Zadorov and Filip Hronek in need of new contracts, there's a good chance that the Canucks will let Lindholm walk to free agency.
Elias Lindholm with the Boston Bruins seems like it could be a great fit. During the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and even in the regular season at times, the lack of centre depth the Boston Bruins had hurt them. Losing David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron last summer and not replacing them was not a great decision from General Manager Don Sweeney, but he'll have an opportunity in just over a month to fix the team's depth down the middle.
