The Boston Bruins are sitting second in the NHL. This isn't unusual territory for them, as they finished first place in the league by a landslide last season. As deadline season is around the corner, they're expected to be buyers. However, GM Don Sweeney may have other ideas when it comes to their goaltending.
Linus Ullmark is 30 years old. This season, he has a 2.72 GAA and a 914 SV%. After a Vezina year last year, carrying the momentum into this year, he'll carry a very high price.
And this won't be too much of a blow, as they have a 25-year-old Jeremy Swayman having a better year than Ullmark at the backup goalie position. Swayman currently has a 2.47 GAA and a .920 SV% in 32 games.
If they are willing to trade Ullmark, they will be able to score a big piece at the deadline because of the price he will carry. Plus, having a five-year younger starting caliber goalie to back him up certainly helps in making that decision of trading help.
