The Boston Bruins have struggled to begin this season and now will be looking to a free-agent reinforcement to help turn things around quickly.

Throughout the last two decades, the Boston Bruins have been one of the best teams in the NHL every season. This season, however, they have struggled to find success and lack a lot of depth in their forward corps. As a result, they have decided today that they will be signing former Stanley Cup champion Tyler Johnson to a one-year contract according to Frank Seravalli.
According to reports Tyler Johnson and the Boston Bruins have been in contact throughout the early season and checked in multiple times about a potential contract. He attended training camp on a player tryout contract and decided to stick around in Boston to continue training until he got an opportunity. Then after a recent AHL stint with the Providence Bruins the two decided the time was right for an NHL deal.
Now that opportunity has come for Tyler Johnson and he will look to bring several great qualities to the Boston Bruins. During his time in the NHL, Tyler Johnson has played 738 games and tallied 438 points. More notably he was part of the Tampa Bay Lightning dynasty and won 2 Stanley Cups while in Tampa Bay.
Last season Tyler Johnson spent the year mentoring the young and talented Chicago Blackhawks. In 67 games with the Blackhawks, he tallied 31 points while surrounded by a young and inexperienced team. Heading into Boston it would be fair to assume those numbers might take a jump up.
With Tyler Johnson already being in town and having familiarity with the team it is reasonable to assume he might play a game with the Bruins sooner rather than later once he officially joins the team.
