Brad Marchand Reveals He'd Join NHL on TNT's Panel After Retirement- But Only on One Condition
The Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand revealed what he'd like to do after retiring from the NHL.
Hockey players know that their career won't last all their lives. That's why many decide to pursue academics before joining the NHL, so they know they have something to fall back on outside of hockey.
Brad Marchand, the Bruins' captain, is currently 36 years old, and there's no denying he could retire in the next few years.
In a recent interview, Marchand revealed what he'd like to do after his playing career.
A reporter asked him if he would consider a broadcast career, to which he replied that the topic came up a few times recently after some great interactions with Paul Bissonnette.
He added that he'd be much more interested in working in that field if it involved having a good time and a few laughs instead of being a part of a serious panel.
"I haven't thought a ton about it. It's come up a couple of times more recently because of the interactions with Bizz. I would be way more interested in doing something like that where guys are having fun.
I don't have a ton of interest in sitting down and just being serious on a panel. I like having a good time and the friendly banter and they do a really good job with that.
"So that would be something I probably would be interested in some capacity down the road. Hopefully it's a long ways down the road. But the way that it's going and how much fun they seem to have, it's definitely something that I would be intrigued with."
Marchand is still focused on his current job, but when the time comes, he could be interested in starting a broadcasting career.
His teammate, Charlie McAvoy, knows that the captain has what it takes:
"He's got the personality for it. That's for sure. I know he's got a good relationship with those guys. He might be setting the table for his next act. He'd be hysterical. There's nobody better at the jabs and the chirps. They might be worried to give him a microphone."
It'll be interesting to see what awaits Marchand after his retirement. Meanwhile, we're eager to see him on the ice with the Bruins.
