Bruins Marchand lays dangerous hit on Maple Leafs Bertuzzi
Boston Bruins veteran captain Brad Marchand plays a very special style of game that has gotten him the nickname The Rat for obvious reasons. He's the type of player you love to have on your team due to his hard-nosed play and the type of player you hate to have on your team for the same reason. However, Marchand has been known to play very dirty at times, and Saturday night during Game 4 against the Toronto Maple Leafs was no exception.
Towards the end of the first period, Marchand was trying to catch Maple Leafs forward Tyler Bertuzzi, and as he got to him, he stepped into him low, which caused Bertuzzi to fall to the ice. Have a look:
Nobody will deny that physicality and hitting are part of the game and that their is a very fine line between what is acceptable and what is not. However, this isn't the first time in Marchand's career that he's made this type of hit, and quite frankly, it can and in the past has caused injury.
It will be interesting to see if the Maple Leafs can respond in kind the rest of the night with some pushback to make Marchand aware that the hit itself isn't appreciated and that hopefully he's a marked man the remainder of the series.
