Recent reporting out of Boston has suggested a major rift is behind their struggles as of late, but now star forward David Pastrnak has refuted that idea.
Despite still being in a Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference, the Boston Bruins have now dropped six straight games, with rising tension in what is usually a very tight knit group.
That was followed up on Friday by reports of a rift in the team, mainly involving captain Brad Marchand and star forward David Pastrnak, with the report revealing that 'Pasta' has refused to play on a line with his captain.
"The locker room is a disaster, and David Pastrnak is at the center of that. David Pastrnak has told the team he doesn't want to be on a line with Brad Marchand, and it may stem from Brad Marchand calling out Pastrnak for some of his play."
Unsurprisingly, both players were quick to speak out about the shocking report, with Pastrnak emphatically stating that it is false, stating that he's never asked to be taken off a line with Marchand.
«I've never in my life said I don't want to play with this guy to the coaching staff or management and I never would. I love playing with Marchy. I've been playing with him for so long.»
Pastrnak then followed up by revealing Marchand told him about the report on Friday, believing that Marchand was making fun of him for telling him, as they've been laughing about the entire situation.
«I thought he was making fun of me We've been laughing about this all day.»
It's unclear then exactly why this report came out, as both players are adamant that it's been made up, with Marchand also commenting on the situation on Friday:
With the struggles however, a potential trade hasn't been ruled out with Don Sweeney under pressure in the GM spot, but as of right now, both players have made it clear that this report simply isn't true.
