Don Cherry gave his opinion on a potential return to Boston for Brad Marchand next summer after being traded to the Florida Panthers.

Circumstances forced the Boston Bruins to give up on their season before the trade deadline. Following a tough start to the regular calendar, they replaced Jim Montgomery as their head coach with Joe Sacco, and they decided to trade many key players.
Before the deadline, the Bruins sent Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers, Charlie Coyle to the Colorado Avalanche, Brandon Carlo to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Justin Brazeau to the Minnesota Wild, and Trent Frederic to the Edmonton Oilers.
If these trades all shocked fans, the worst of them all was seeing captain Marchand leaving for Florida in return for a second-round draft pick.
Since he joined the Panthers, there's a general belief that Marchand could be interested in going back to Boston this summer as a free agent.
However, it's unlikely to happen, according to Don Cherry.

Don Cherry says Marchand won't go back to Boston

In the latest Don Cherry's Grapevine episode, Cherry stated that Marchand probably won't be interested in going back to Boston, even if he admitted that it would be a great scenario for fans:
"There's no way. But it sounds good, doesn't it?"

It was tough for Marchand to get traded. He admitted he was sad to leave, but was also looking forward to playing in Florida.
Here's what he said at the time of the trade:
"It's sad to leave a place I look at as home. I have a lot of great memories in Boston, a lot of incredible years there. When I walked into the room the other day, I literally had flashbacks to the year that we won (2011) and some of the groups we had over the years that had incredible chemistry and an incredible culture."

"I'm just enjoying this whole journey, it is such a unique experience for myself. I have been part of really good teams that have accomplished big things, and some that haven't. Regardless, what you realize is these opportunities are few and far between. Enjoy every day in this League, and I'm having a lot of fun right now."

The Bruins were looking to make drastic changes, and they did it. It would be surprising to see them show interest in bringing back Marchand after the way it ended.
