New Bruins defenseman Henri Jokiharju, who was acquired from the struggling Buffalo Sabres, revealed that he approached management and said he wanted out.
The 2025 Trade Deadline has come and gone, and multiple players have landed in new locations.
Among the players on the move was former Buffalo Sabres defenseman Henri Jokiharju, who was dealt to the divisional foe Boston Bruins in exchange for a 2026 4th round draft pick (originally belonging to the Edmonton Oilers).
Apparently, Jokiharju had requested to be moved from the Sabres, who will not make the playoffs and are going to extend their NHL-leading drought of non-postseason appearances.
He's also excited to join the Bruins, who have several players who are from his native Finland.
I'm really excited to join the group and love to be here...played with [Mittelstadt] for a long time in Buffalo...and Korpisalo, Finnish guy, always great to have a Finnish guy on your team...just try to help the team win.
Right now, the Bruins are on the outside looking in at a playoff spot, but aren't officially out of the hunt yet.
He's a pending unrestricted free agent this summer, and has also played for the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Bruins traded multiple players, including captain Brad Marchand
