The Bruins have confirmed their latest setback in what has been a very frustrating last few weeks, as forward Mark Kastelic has officially left the team with injury.
It's been an extraordinarily difficult last few weeks for the Boston Bruins, who have tumbled out of the tightly-packed race for the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the Eastern Conference.
After consecutive losses on the West Coast, they now occupy the second-to-last spot in the Atlantic Division and have seen their odds of making the playoffs fall to near zero.
As if that weren't enough, the Bruins have now lost key bottom-6 forward Mark Kastelic after he suffered an upper body injury.
Kasty went back to Boston. He's not going to be here for the remainder of the trip. He's out right now with an upper-body injury. We'll know more when we get back from the trip.
Because Boston management liked what they saw out of Kastelic in the early goings of the year shortly after his acquisition, they signed him to a 3-year, $4.7 million contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $1.567 million per year.
In 205 career games with the Bruins and Senators, Kastelic has 39 points (19G, 20A) along with 285 penalty minutes.
