There are some reports surfacing from various sources, per Pierre LeBrun, that Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney could be out, as the team has completely fallen apart.

NHL insider Pierre LeBrun reports the Boston Bruins are finally considering a general manager change, which would involve parting ways with Don Sweeney. If the team is determined to enter a rebuild, the time to enact changes is now.
"There's not been any word either way and that in itself has created a bit of noise, he's entering the final year of his contract next year, he's been there 10 years and that's a long time.

It's been a very disappointing year. He had a very aggressive trade deadline... and got a lot of praise from GM's around the league about the return on those deals so we'll see what that means for his future in Boston."

Yet there is a sense that the Bruins will attempt one more playoff push by making aggressive moves this offseason, and that would align with the news that Sweeney's contract runs until 2026.

Devastating injury news has also affected the Bruins

Meanwhile, the Bruins' woeful season is getting worse with more foreboding news: Charlie McAvoy has been officially shut down for the season. The defenseman will miss the team's final four games and instead focus on being healthy for 2025-26.
Head coach Joe Sacco also said that forward Mark Kastelic is out for the season due to injury.
McAvoy finishes the season with seven goals and 23 points in just 50 games, his lowest total in his career. At age 27, he had injury setbacks both with the Bruins and while playing for Team USA at the 4 Nations Face-Off.
When McAvoy returns next season, he'll be playing on a very different Bruins roster. Veterans like Brad Marchand, Charlie Coyle, Brandon Carlo, and Trent Frederic are all gone after a series of cap-clearing trades by Sweeney.
The team appears to be heading into a time of transition, with question marks on both the roster and in the front office.
