We've known for a little while now that the Buffalo Sabres are trying to get Rasmus Dahlin locked-up long-term, with a reported eight-year deal on the table, but now the organization also has their sights on another big signing.

On Wednesday morning, Buffalo Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams told reporters that the team is working on a contract extension for former first-overall pick Owen Power, as well as Rasmus Dahlin.

"We see them as really important people and pieces of our franchise moving forward," Adams said.

Power, 20, will be entering the final year of his entry-level contract next season which carries a cap hit of $1,850,000, but is eligible to sign an extension with the Sabres as of July 1st.

The Toronto native had a successful rookie campaign in Buffalo during the 2022-23 season, which saw him earn a nomination for the Calder Memorial Trophy. In 79 games, Power put up 34 points (four goals, 31 assists), 24 penalty minutes and was a plus-ten.
