The Seth Jones deal that saw the Blackhawks defenseman head to the Florida Panthers ahead of the trade deadline was one of the biggest in the NHL this year, as Chicago seemingly secured their goaltender of the future in Spencer Knight.
On top of that, it appears as though Chicago got rid of a poor presence in the locker room, with both Nick Foligno and Connor Bedard implying that moving Jones has had a very positive effect on the locker room.
This has drawn GM Kyle Davidson rave reviews from fans, but now, a revelation about a major surgery has made the deadline moves even more impressive from the General Manager.
According to reports, Davidson underwent heart surgery just a matter of weeks for the deadline, with the GM somehow multi-tasking and negotiating a deal with Florida that saw them land Knight and a first-round pick in the process.
It's unclear how much of that negotiating happened just before the surgery and while he was recovering, but the fact that this didn't get in the way of his dealings with other NHL GM's is incredibly impressive, as Davidson has managed some solid moves in his time as Blackhawks GM.
The work isn't finished however, but with a top star of the future in Bedard and Knight in net representing the future starting goaltender, the pieces are starting to fall into place, and if they can nail free agency and the 2025 NHL Draft, the rebuild may be coming along very nicely.
