Moments ago, the Colorado Avalanche have announced that they've extended their head coach, reigning Stanley Cup Champion, Jared Bednar.
The move comes just weeks before the playoffs begin, and with the team likely expecting another deep run into the playoffs. Although the team has battled significant injuries all year, the team has been able to hand bear the top of the standings, and will enter the playoffs healthy against a weaker western conference.
Keeping Bednar on board further shows the organization's commitment to continue their winning ways beyond this season, hopefully en route to another Stanley Cup.
Bednar, 51 years old, will keep his role as the head coach of the Avalanche for at least the next three years. Despite never playing a game himself in the NHL, he's become one of the league's elite coaches.
