The Colorado Avalanche are cruising into the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but now it appears that Nathan MacKinnon is under a significant injury cloud as he is expected to miss some games late in the regular season.
This season has been another great one for the Colorado Avalanche, and with the team staring down a matchup against the Dallas Stars, they'll need to be at 100% health if they are to go on a deep run in 2025.
Their captain
Gabriel Landeskog is taking major steps to making it back on the ice ahead of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but now, their biggest star of all is under an injury cloud with the post-season right around the corner.
According to reports, Nathan MacKinnon is dealing with an injury that could see him sidelined for the final three regular season games of the year, and while there's no current worry about his availability for the playoffs, it's certainly not a good sign for them moving forward.
Head Coach Jared Bednar has already confirmed that MacKinnon will miss Thursday night's game, and has described his availability for the weekend as unlikely, but unless the injury gets worse, the hope is that he'll be at 100% for what could be the biggest series of the entire Stanley Cup Playoffs in round one.
With
Cale Makar,
Martin Necas,
Valeri Nichushkin and a loaded lineup, the Avalanche are optimistic that a lengthy Stanley Cup run could be on the way again in 2025 after last winning in 2022, and while the team are still formidable despite injuries, if they don't have MacKinnon in the lineup, their Stanley Cup hopes take a significant hit.
