The New York Rangers have been linked to a massive trade that would send top prospects and picks to Dallas for star forward Jason Robertson.
After missing the playoffs last season, the New York Rangers are clearly looking to shake things up.
A recent trade idea from Heavy.com suggests that the Rangers could target Jason Robertson of the Dallas Stars, sending a mix of prospects and picks in return.
Trade proposal:
To New York: Jason Robertson
To Dallas: Gabe Perreault, Brennan Othmann, 2026 first-round pick, 2028 third-round pick

In exchange, the Rangers would get Robertson, who still managed 80 points in 82 games last season and is entering the final year of his $31 million contract.
Would Dallas trade Robertson to help their cap and restock the prospect pool?
While it may seem bold for Dallas to consider trading one of its top scorers, the team is currently facing tight cap pressure.
Moving Robertson would give them future flexibility and bring in two high-upside forwards who are still on entry-level deals.
Perreault, picked 16th overall in 2021, is viewed as a future top-six winger.
Othmann, also a former first-rounder, has struggled to find his spot in New York and could benefit from a fresh start in Dallas.
For the Rangers, this move would add a proven top-line scorer and provide a backup plan in case Artemi Panarin walks in free agency next summer.
Rangers GM Chris Drury recently said,
«I want players to have goals of coming in here and making the team,» referencing Othmann and other young names.
Still, if the price is right, those same players could be on the move.
NHL.com's Dan Rosen said this about Robertson's chances of being traded this summer.
«It's probably 50/50, It really depends on whether Dallas and Robertson want to get a new deal done sooner than later.»
Personally, I think this type of deal would only make sense if the Stars are sure Robertson will not re-sign.
