Dallas Stars destroy Avalanche with brutal social media reply after playoff trash talk

The Colorado Avalanche thought they were being clever with a haiku aimed at the Dallas Stars, but the Stars' social media team had the perfect response, reminding everyone who's really dominated the rivalry.
It all started with a tweet from the Avalanche's official account on X (formerly Twitter), posting a playful jab that read:
«A haiku just for you, @DallasStars
You beat us in May
But didn't go all the way
Womp womp Dallas Stars»
It was a cheeky reference to Dallas eliminating Colorado in the second round of the 2024 playoffs, only for the Stars to fall short of the Stanley Cup Final.
But the Stars didn't let it slide.
Their reply? A cold, perfectly timed dig that hit even harder:
«Y'all remember when Mikko did that thing? 🌊🌊🌊»
The tweet included a photo of
Mikko Rantanen, now wearing a Stars jersey with number 96, skating in victory green.
The Dallas Stars have eliminated the Colorado Avalanche in three straight playoffs, and just stole their superstar
Since 2022, the Dallas Stars have bounced the Avalanche out of the playoffs three years in a row.
That includes a six-game series win in 2024, when Rantanen was still with Colorado, and a seven-game thriller in 2025, after Rantanen was traded to Dallas in a move that shocked the NHL.
With Rantanen now leading the Stars and
Nathan MacKinnon still carrying Colorado, the rivalry has grown even more intense.
The Stars didn't just win the war on the ice, they're winning it online, too.
I think what makes this moment sting even more for Avs fans is how casually Dallas used Rantanen's image as a mic-drop.
And for Stars fans, it's another reason to believe this team is in the Avalanche's heads.
