Everyone makes mistakes but it is all about how you atone for the error that means the most. The DJ for the Dallas Stars made a huge error, celebrating the Stars Game 2 victory over the Oilers by playing the song «La Bamba.» The Stars DJ was unware that the song was chosen by the Oilers after home wins.

La Bamba became Edmonton's victory song thanks to long-time Oilers attendant Joey Moss and was made even more popular by superfan Ben Stelter, who died from cancer two years ago.

Jonathon Shippy Shipman was unaware of the Oilers connection to the song or about the special relationship that Stelter had formed with Oilers' captain Connor McDavid before his passing.

The Dallas DJ took to his social media to apologize for his huge error. Shipman reveals that he tries to troll the Stars opposition. Had he known the meaning behind the song, he would never have done it.

«I'm sorry, Oilers fans. If I knew what I know now about the significance of La Bamba to your franchise and fan base, I certainly would not have played it. I thought it was just a happy, fun win song. Thank you to all the Oilers fans who have been so understanding. Much love!»

DJ Jonathon Shippy Shipman took things a step further to atone for his error, by donating to the Ben Stelter Foundation. He encouraged Stars fans to do the same and so far they have raised over $10k.

A classy gesture by the DJ!

Game 4 will be played on Wednesday night at the Rogers Place arena in Edmonton, with puck drop scheduled for 9:30 PM
