The Dallas Stars have officially announced the jersey numbers for their newest players, and for one familiar face, it's a return to an old identity.
The team welcomed back
Radek Faksa on a three-year deal during free agency. Faksa, originally drafted by Dallas in 2012, spent nine NHL seasons with the Stars before a one-year stop in St. Louis.
Now back in green, Faksa didn't hesitate to reclaim his long-time number 12, a sweater he wore for nearly his entire Stars career.
During his short absence, forward
Arttu Hyry briefly wore the number in five games last season, but the jersey will once again belong to Faksa as he returns to Dallas to strengthen the fourth line.
Dallas Stars jersey numbers for Faksa, Kolyachonok, and Bastian revealed
The 24-year-old defenseman will wear number 44, a number most recently worn by
Joel Hanley before he was dealt to Calgary in the 2023-24 season.
The Stars' most recent signing,
Nathan Bastian, also received his new number. The 27-year-old winger, known for his size and grit, will wear number 11.
For fans keeping track, these number assignments carry plenty of history within the franchise, connecting past rosters to the new era under head coach Glen Gulutzan.
While Dallas may still consider professional tryouts during training camp, cap space limits further additions.
For now, Faksa, Kolyachonok, and Bastian are locked in, and with their new numbers, they'll be part of the Stars' push for another deep playoff run.
