Jamie Benn has had a long and successful NHL career, and with the 35-year old closing in on retirement, he reveals where he wants to play next.
The Dallas Stars once again fell agonizingly short of the Stanley Cup Finals in 2025, and as a result, they head into yet another off-season looking to find a way to get over the hump next season.
With a few free agents to come off the board this summer, this gives General Manager Jim Nill plenty to think about, with the biggest of all being long-time captain Jamie Benn, who just finished the last year of an eight-year deal signed way back in the 2016 off-season.
When asked about a potential reunion with the Stars, this is what the superstar forward had to say:
«I'm going to go into the summer planning on playing next year, and prepare like I do every summer, like I'm going to play.
I don't see myself going anywhere else. This is all I know. So hopefully we can get something figured out and then I don't have to answer these questions.»
In his time with Dallas, Benn has played in 1,192 games, scoring an impressive 399 goals and 956 points in that time, and while there's been opportunities to go elsewhere, he's remained loyal to the Stars throughout his entire career.
At 35-years of age, Benn's time in the NHL is certainly winding down, so it makes sense that he wants to finish it where it all began, so now, we will wait and see if the Stars can lock him up moving forward.
