Stuart Skinner has been up-and-down in these playoffs thus far, but according to Mikko Rantanen, he was the difference in a key Game 3 victory after finding his rhythm over the past few weeks.
The Western Conference Finals took a turn on Sunday, with the Edmonton Oilers picking up the 6-1 victory to give them a key 2-1 advantage heading into a pivotal Game 4 on Tuesday night.
In game 3 however, there was simply nothing that the Dallas Stars offense could do, as Stuart Skinner shut them down all night, allowing just one goal, and after the game, star forward Mikko Rantanen was all praise for the Oilers goaltender.
I think Stuart Skinner was the difference maker tonight. He was really good.
Thus far in the post-season, Skinner has been either really good or absolutely pathetic, but in Game's 2 and 3, he's been the former, allowing just one goal over the last 120 minutes of play as Edmonton have now gained the ascendancy in the series.
Over the last two games, Skinner has stopped 58 of the 59 shots that he has seen, and after losing his starting role earlier in the series to
Calvin Pickard, he's now back in net and won't lose that again, as it appears he's set to take this team back to the Stanley Cup Finals after the heartbreak that they suffered in 2024.
If Skinner is on, there's few better teams in the NHL than Edmonton, as their lineup has been absolutely rolling as of late, and if Skinner can make some big stops to continue giving his team momentum, they'll be incredibly hard to stop over the next few weeks as well.
