Peter DeBoer Slams League After Nurse Escapes Major for Deliberate Slash that Severely Injured Roope Hintz

Stars coach Peter DeBoer slammed the NHL for what he felt was a complete dereliction of duty after the slash on Roope Hintz from Darnell Nurse garnered only a 2-minute minor.
The Edmonton Oilers beat the Dallas Stars 3-0 in the 2nd game of their Western Conference Final series thanks to yet another shutout performance from the previously maligned goaltender Stuart Skinner.
But the Stars are hot under the collar after a slash from Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse on top forward Roope Hintz yielded only a 2-minute minor penalty.
Hintz gingerly was able to get off the ice and did not return. Afterward, Stars head coach Peter DeBoer was clearly angry with the lack of what he felt should have been harsher punishment.
He then said that had the roles been reversed and it was a Stars player who slashed Edmonton captain Connor McDavid, the punishment would have been more severe.
I'll answer your question with a question. Does anyone in this room think if Connor McDavid gets carried off the ice like that, it's not a five-minute major?
Stars captain Jamie Benn echoed his coach's sentiments.
We didn't like it. If that was (Connor) McDavid walking down the tunnel, I would like to see the result of that.
Per the NHL official rule book, specifically Rule 61.3, a major penalty could have been called
A major penalty, at the discretion of the referee, based on the severity of the contact, shall be imposed on a player who slashes an opponent. When injury occurs, a major penalty must be assessed under this rule.
Many fans and critics online are calling for a suspension on Nurse. Do the Stars have a legitimate beef with the officiating?
