Breaking News - Steve Yzerman nears signing major contract extension
Rumors have swirled around the Detroit Red Wings for months now, but it appears that Steve Yzerman has finally managed to bridge the gap between themselves and Captain, Dylan Larkin. While rumors swirled that the two parties may not be able to come to an agreement, it sounds as if the two parties have finally found some middle ground.
According to Chris Johnson of Sportsnet, the parties are finalizing a deal.
As the #redwings close in on an extension with captain Dylan Larkin, it sounds like the eight-year extension will come in north of the $8.5M AAV Bo Horvat recently got from the #isles. This deal will keep Larkin in Detroit for the prime of his career and secure the Wing's Captain as the core of the the team. The deal coming in North of $8,500,000 is a large extension that will surely draw some criticism.
This season Larkin has 22 goals and 35 assists for 57 points in 59 games.
