Former Detroit First-Rounder placed on Waivers by the Team
Waivers in the middle of summer is not a common thing. That's why it appears the Detroit Red Wings are about to move on from a player that was supposed to be a major prospect for the team.
Gm Steve Yzerman has placed 2018 6th-overall pick Filip Zadina on the waiver wire. At this time of the year, it has to be mutually consensual for a player to hit waivers. That means there's a taker in place, or Zadina and the team have mutually agreed to part ways.
Zadina was touted as a potential offensive force in the 2018 Draft, but it simply hasn't worked out. In 190 games over the past five seasons, Zadina has managed 28 goals and 68 points. He's spent as much time in the AHL as with Detroit, and hasn't rally produced bigger numbers there. It seems Detroit, and Zadina are looking for a change of scenery.
