Things in North America have been getting rather dicey as of late, and that's now extended to hockey games, as games hosted by Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver have seen the US National Anthem booed heavily over the weekend.
One team that experienced this not once, but twice over the weekend was the Detroit Red Wings, who played games in Calgary and Vancouver, with one of the greatest American born players in NHL history playing for the team in Patrick Kane.
Now, 'Showtime' has reacted to the booing, and while he certainly doesn't agree with it, it appears as though he understands why this is happening, and it likely won't stop anytime soon.
It's unclear if this trend will continue at every sports game played in Canada moving forward when the anthem is played, but given the amount of American born players currently playing in Canada, it's something that could certainly come back to bite fanbases one day.
Given everything that is happening between both countries however, it's easy to see why there's animosity on both sides, and given the free speech that is allowed in both countries, fans will continue to use that voice as things heat up with truly no end in sight moving forward, with the NHL potentially needing to get involved if things get even worse.
