Edmonton Oilers Evander Kane leaves game with apparent injury
Evander Kane has been a key member of an Oilers team that is one period away from reaching the Stanley Cup final in 2006. If the Oilers are to finish off the Stars Sunday, they will likely have to do without him, as he appeared to be injured in the first period and was only able to take shifts totaling 4:39.
Kane was apparently injured after getting tied up with Stars defenseman Alex Petrovic, and although the extent of his injury is unknown, it very well could be the same ailment that has plagued him during the season. Whether it's a groin, hernia, or something else, it is not allowing the 32-year-old to perform at a high level, at all.
If Kane, who has been admittedly very shaky at the best of times, can't go, it is next man up for the Oilers, who should be okay for the remainder of game 6, but without Kane's services moving forward, it is unclear as to whether they would be okay without him.
Even if at the moment it looks like the Oilers are in the clear and are smooth sailing, what could an extended absence of Kane look like for the Oilers, and how could it affect them the rest of the way?
