The NHL has made a decision and decided to issue a $2,000 fine to Jeff Skinner of the Edmonton Oilers for diving. This is the second time he has done it this season.
The NHL fined Oilers forward Jeff Skinner $2,000 for the embellishment during the game against the New York Rangers on November 23rd.
The action was viewed as a dive, with that being Skinner's second of the season. The first was on October 22nd, against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Skinner has received lots of flak, and many say that more stringent punishments are needed to curb the players from such acts.
Rangers goalie
Jonathan Quick stopped 34 shots, including 18 in the first before allowing two late in the period.
The breakthrough finally came with 2:26 remaining in the first, as Vasily Podkolzin fired home his first as an Oiler and first since March 2023, snapping an unlucky stretch of 42 consecutive regular-season games without a goal.
Jonathan Quick came in 25-12-6 in his career against Edmonton, with a 2.18 GAA and .921 save percentage, but he couldn't stem the tide of the Oilers that night.
All in all, it was a successful night for the Oilers, minus the diving incident of Jeff Skinner. Here's hoping this fine will teach him a lesson moving forward.
