Evander Kane is far from the most liked player in the NHL. He is known across the league as a troublemaker and has never been particularly well thought of as a teammate. However, that doesn't mean that he should be the subject of any sort of off ice abuse.
Today Kane posted on his Instagram account the following video of an allegedly racially motivated incident that occurred. While driving a cyclist allegedly spit on Kane's vehicle before telling the forward to get out of the country. Kane shared the following details:
This cyclist was riding his bike past my vehicle and decided to spit on it as he rode by. And then confronted him as he tried to deny the claim luckily a friend of mine who was driving in the area, pulled over to intervene in our conversation, this gentleman then proceeded to tell me in my friend and I quote. " you people don't belong here" it's incredibly disappointing. There are still people like this today
The video can still be seen on Kane's Instagram story and is proof that not even sports stars like Kane are immune from this sort of treatment. However the alleged perpetrator was unwilling to continue his tirade once he was being filmed.
Kane was able to maintain his temper during this incident, something he may not have been able to do years ago. Kane is back in Edmonton preparing for the season, and has reportedly been nursing a back injury that could keep him out of the lineup.
