Nine-year National Hockey League veteran Zach Hyman has been doubted and counted out at literally every level of hockey he's played throughout his journey. However, through hard work, dedication, and the opportunity he's been afforded throughout his career, playing with the likes of Auston Matthews in Toronto and now with Connor McDavid in Edmonton, the 31-year-old from Toronto who just scored his fiftieth goal of the season has been able to keep things in perspective when speaking on how he got to this point in his career.
Speaking with Sportsnet's Gene Principe, the Oilers left winger had the following to say about what it meant to score fifty goals and the emotions he was feeling after the fact:
Hyman, who has always carried himself in the most humbling manner, was honest while being quoted, reflecting on how he got to this point in his career.
Hyman, who had difficulties staying healthy towards the tail end of his time in Toronto, never gave up on himself, and he now has proof that his continued belief in himself paid off, as he's become the sixth player in Edmonton Oilers history to score fifty goals at least once, joining teammates Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, as well as Oilers greats Wayne Gretzky, Jari Kurri, Glenn Anderson, and Mark Messier, who each have a season or more of fifty goals or more.
