Brad Marchand's future in the NHL could go many different ways this off-season, but according to a top source, his preferred move is to remain with the Panthers.
NHL free agency is set to begin on Tuesday, and while there's not many elite level players available, there's some great value for contenders looking to upgrade their teams ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
While many believe he wants to return to Florida, the money might be better elsewhere, leading teams like Toronto and his former home in Boston to show interest in the 37-year old.
Now however, Bruins reporter Jimmy Murphy has given the latest update, revealing that Marchand's preference is to return to the Panthers as a free agent, with sources around Boston revealing that it's 'highly unlikely' that a reunion will happen with the former captain.
It's no surprise that Marchand wants to return to Florida, as he's become beloved by that team and the city, and with the team already bringing back
Sam Bennett, they're set to be just as loaded as they were this season in 2025/26.
Ultimately though, Marchand could be swayed by a bigger offer from Toronto, Boston or another interested team, and while Florida give him a great chance to win a Stanley Cup, this is likely his last contract in the NHL, and if a big time deal comes along, anything could happen with the veteran on July 1st when free agency begins.
