Brad Marchand's debut in Florida is highly anticipated, but unfortunately, it won't come against his former team on Tuesday night according to his Head Coach, who has revealed his status for the teams matchup against Boston.
The Florida Panthers trade for Brad Marchand could end up being one of the biggest moves we've seen in years at the NHL level, and according to Canadian teammate Sam Bennett, he's fitting right in with the group already after arriving in the group chat.
On Tuesday, the former Boston Bruins captain took his place on the ice during the Panthers practice at TD Garden, skating for the first time in his NHL career at the arena with a jersey that's not from the Boston Bruins or Team Canada.
While it may take some time to get used too, Marchand is already blending in with his teammates, who, according to Scott McLaughlin, absolutely loved it when he almost wiped out during a drill at the practice.
With all the excitement, this has led many to believe a debut could be on the way, but ahead of a matchup against Boston on Tuesday night, Paul Maurice has unfortunately revealed that his Bruins debut won't be coming anytime soon.
The team have 18 games left in the regular season, with Maurice noting that Marchand is still considered week-to-week, but everyone in the organization believes he'll make his debut during the regular season.
If Marchand is healthy and the team get Matthew Tkachuk back for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, this looks like the most loaded team in the Eastern Conference, and after back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals, it's easy to see why, with the additions they made at the deadline that optimism is high in Florida.
